The Australian Out Of Home (OOH) sector has been on a strong growth journey for the past five years.

As a result it’s now one of the top three mediums for advertising expenditure. This growth has been powered in part by changes to the way people consume media and the rise of new channels that provide them with increased control and more options for information and entertainment.

With 5.1% of the total advertising pie, analyst reports suggest that the sector that I love is set to take over the third spot from newspapers. TV and online take up the top two spots.

In the early days of the company I recall delivering one of my greatest ever pitches.  Traditional OOH advertisers were being precluded from the medium so I went in to pitch to Hyundai about the benefits of OOH and why it was the right channel for them. Soon after I signed them up for their first ever OOH campaign in Australia.

Pitches grease the wheels of the media and marketing industry and I am lucky enough to have worked with many great people and won more than my fair share. The pitch comes in many different shapes and sizes whether it be signing up brands to the virtues of OOH, encouraging them to push the boundaries in creative and execution or to win the contracts for some of the unmissable sites we can deliver advertising on.

The key to a great pitch is to deliver your idea and message with passion, supported by facts and flair and with few, if any, notes at all. Which brings me back to the title of this post: Why oOh! is giving away a $1million dollar OOH campaign?
