The Australian Out Of Home (OOH) sector has been on a strong growth journey for the past five years.
As a result it’s now one of the top three mediums for advertising expenditure. This growth has been powered in part by changes to the way people consume media and the rise of new channels that provide them with increased control and more options for information and entertainment.
With 5.1% of the total advertising pie, analyst reports suggest that the sector that I love is set to take over the third spot from newspapers. TV and online take up the top two spots.
At oOh!, we are doing a huge amount of work to educate the market about the enormous value OOH can bring, through research into the return on investment being delivered by each media (see link here), our Unmissable offering and pushing the boundaries to ensure our OOH assets deliver even greater engagement – 360 engagement that transcends the offline and online environments.
It has been exciting to be part of this evolution, which started decades ago when I established the company known today as oOh!
In the early days of the company I recall delivering one of my greatest ever pitches. Traditional OOH advertisers were being precluded from the medium so I went in to pitch to Hyundai about the benefits of OOH and why it was the right channel for them. Soon after I signed them up for their first ever OOH campaign in Australia.
Pitches grease the wheels of the media and marketing industry and I am lucky enough to have worked with many great people and won more than my fair share. The pitch comes in many different shapes and sizes whether it be signing up brands to the virtues of OOH, encouraging them to push the boundaries in creative and execution or to win the contracts for some of the unmissable sites we can deliver advertising on.
The key to a great pitch is to deliver your idea and message with passion, supported by facts and flair and with few, if any, notes at all. Which brings me back to the title of this post: Why oOh! is giving away a $1million dollar OOH campaign?
As Australia’s largest audience network, we like to do things big but also smart. So we’re on the hunt for Australia’s Best Pitch Master with the launch of oOh!’s Million Dollar Pitch campaign, which is open to media and creative agencies and advertisers in Australia.
This Unmissable contest will see the ultimate winner of oOh!’s Million Dollar Pitch take out an OOH campaign valued at $1million to run across oOh!’s Unmissable sites and an around the world site tour taking in world famous outdoor locations including New York’s Times Square, London’s Piccadilly Circus and one of the world’s biggest interactive & marketing festivals in Austin Texas.
For a shot at this amazing prize visit www.oohmilliondollarpitch.com.au and submit a 60-second pitch video that shows the judges why you are Australia’s best pitch master.
To my way of thinking, this means delivering a pitch with passion, which means ditching the PowerPoint and saying no to notes.
Please note: The Million Dollar Pitch contest is only open to people located in Australia.
